I adore and always have so, the wines from Lafon. This does not deviate from my previous experiences, but only adds to my already high thoughts of the Comtes Lafon wines. Always such a treat to drink Le Montrachet, and when made like this, even better. Some maturity, as in this case, is all but negative to that experience. White wines don’t get much better than this in my opinion. Nose is nothing short of stunning, with minerals and stones, ripe pears and apples, honey, ripe mango and warm stone dust. Palate shows an incredible depth and length, with ripe pears and smoked minerals and spice mix. Good finish with clean acidity and some lingering sweetness. Such a clean wine, showing rather young for its age. To score a wine like this is very hard, siince its simply just amazing.

Needed air coming out of the bottle...developed acid and complexity after decanting; still youthful. Nose developed Asian spices, vanilla, and floral notes. Impressive palate coverage and a very long finish. May be the best Montrachet I've tasted; right up there with the '83 Ramonet Monty from mag I had at La Paulee in SF 3 years ago...wow!

Medium yellow colour. Notes of chalk, minerals, and turpentine. Incredibly fat and oily in the mouth with huge amounts of fruit, a mamoth structure, and exquisite balance. Dizzyingly complex with an endless array of facets, elegance and style, all wrapped in a powerful, intense delivery. Stupendously long and complex on the aftertaste. Simply brilliant.

La Paulée de San Francisco - Gala Dinner (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. Dark color gave me some concern when first poured. While mature, this is at a phenomenal place right now. Rich stone fruits, slightly honeyed, unctuous, with great depth and concentration.
