  Brick red color. Beautiful, funky nose with black soil, cooked mushrooms, saddle leather, fresh tobacco and tart cherry. More of the same plus some mint notes on the palate. Some would find this a bit lean I'm sure, but for those like me that enjoy tertiary flavors it's really a nice wine. Reminds me somewhat of a high quality aged Chinon, but more leather and less herbal. I didn't have high expectations for this bottle given the vintage, but clearly the provenance on this bottle (birthday gift a couple years ago) was great, and it really impressed me.

  Pretty dark. Funky aromas. Earth, violets and some vegetal notes. Leather and fruit is mostly gone. Cigar box and bell pepper. Mellow finish. After an hour the finish expands and it gets more powerful. This is likely at its peak.

  Couleur: Rouge-violacé et très légèrement tuilée.
  
  Nez: Sur la prune et la vanille, le fruit est tout de même léger. En réchauffant, un peu de sous-bois.
  
  Bouche: Fruits de mûres et de prunes cuites, tanins fondus, pratiquement imperceptibles. Les fruit est encore très beau, Longieur moyenne, le fruit s'estompe tout de même rapidement. En se réchauffant on goute un peu plus le végétal (sous-bois) et l'animal (cuir) et la tannins se raffermissent mais ça reste un tout bien intéressant.
  
  Encore très bon pour son âge! Même après 2hrs d'ouverture le fruit est toujours présent!

  very dissapointing. drank it after an hour of decanting. had a good nose, deep and rich but on tasting it went flat. quick finish. absolutely boring.
