1st of 12, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level - dark, slightly mat but translucent ruby, notably leggy, little rim development; cherry and plum, some chocolate and spice, really nicely layered for right bank; fullish, long, vv persistent and concentrated with volume of top vintage, even expands in mouth, silky, grippy, quite complex and with admirable relaxed expression of fruit, upside here, 15+ years. F+ (18)......broached this case after previous night's VCC for a compare and contrast, the May is further along its evolution and pro tem a much nicer drink but in 15 years I suspect VCC will have edge when it starts unfurling.

Black fruit into a big savory character, the tannins were very soft and this had a lot going on. First try at an aged Pomerol and this has me interested in more.

PNP tight, dry, crisp. After aeration into the decanter (very little sediment) things softened up revealing a wonderfully expressive nose of blueberry, light smoke/wood eucalyptus and menthol all matching on the palate. Throughly enjoyable!

Continuing to develop, this wine has lovely texture and balance. It will not overpower and can be druck now. However, I expect it will pick up at least a point with 5+ years in the cellar.

(Château Certan de May) Tight dry cherry nose; medium bodied cherry and red fruit plate with good balance, good acidity, quite focused and elegant; medium finish (70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon)

Fort beau pomerol a maturite. Au debut, ça semblait vieux, puis apres 1-2 heures le tout s’est place et le fruit est reapparu. Sur son plateau
