The cork had done a great job preserving the wine, as it poured out light of colour and glistening. It had however left some taint, that was quite distracting. Intense lemon fruits, salt and mint. Great depth and drive. Sadly the taint took away some of the pleasure.

After a flawed bottle of MdT I popped the Butteaux. Striking yellow color. Sea breeze and oatmeal on the nose. Fruity and briny and also quite long on the palate. Stunning mature Chablis.

Had this a few times. Colour gold but not dark as expected for a 22 yo chardonnay. Honeycomb on the nose blowing off as it opens. Salty brine/Creme brulee Flavour profile still great freshness. Wonderfully mature perfect window for this now but who knows Good bottle may keep going for ages. All class wonderful again but I think the last bottle I had was better. Quite a richness which is a bit cloying towards the end of the bottle. Still very good though.

spectacular nose of honey, white flowers, wet stones. flavor profile and structure stand out with beeswax, honey, crushed rocks, and lemon peel. what a wine- for a so-so vintage? crushingly good. sadly, my last bottle. happy chinese new year!

(François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux) Group's #2 (my #1) – 77 pts; 4, 1, 3, 2 – light golden color; creamy lemon chiffon nose with a hint of oyster mushroom; light, elegant sweet lemon entry with underlying mineral and butter on mid-palate; gorgeous buttery medium-plus finish 95 pts. (most classically, minerally Chablis, with years to go yet)

Fantastic. Echo previous notes. Was worried that I might have missed it. Still going strong.
