Thinned out and lacking concentration. This bottle would have been better five years ago. All makings of a classic Margaux are there, but the makings are tired. I suspect this would be a strong 91 at the right time. Still has some charm...
There's something to learn from this, but you better start learning now. Drink up!

Decanted 3 hrs. Cork perfect. Dense, very dark red, slightly paling edges. Large bq w dark fruits, plums, toasted oak, floral touches, spices. High acidity, sandy tannins, fruit slightly drying but still some sweetness. Good balance, somewhat elegant. Medium aftertaste, not much complexity. Is of course fully mature, but still alive. Has kept better than expected.

Old Bordeaux (10 years or older) (Capital Grille - Minneapolis): I thought this wine would be another wine way over the hill, but surprisingly, it still showed some fruit. Don't get me wrong, the wine leaned heavily on the tertiary end of the spectrum, but was much more enjoyable than the 75 Talbot or 89 Olivier. Nice perfumed nose with purple flowers, earth and some red fruit. The palate was dominated with earthy notes, some leather and tobacco notes, but it did have some dark and red fruit in the background, with hints of anise and spice. I think this wine is good now, but probably would have been much better 5-10 years ago. Making a mental (and CT) note to drink these Kirwans at around 20-25 years old, at the latest. 90+ for my palate....others enjoyed these older wines much more than I.
