  • First of all - thanks to relatively low score from wine critics I could afford this wine.
Second of all - I would never guess, that this wine is from Margaux, because of black pepper from the beginning to the end. It's very well blended and integrated with other flavors, but anyway it's what I know about Margaux doesn't fit in this picture.
Sweet, ripe red cherry, black cherry, vanilla ice cream, mint ( 👍), milk chocolate and spice, included black pepper. Together with vivid acidity it's a perfect balance for sweetness.
Dry, grippy tannins in finish ( positive thing!)
Very friendly, very drinkable, not too complicated ( so what?), addictive.
2006 got 88 points according to the WA Vintage Guide.
Above Average to Excellent. Early maturing and accessible.

  • Afrer 2 hours of decanting, opened up well. Inky purple red in the glass. Floral bouquet laced with cassis and strawberry aroma. Soft and dry on the palate: berries, liquorice, cashews, hints of citrus. Big, bountiful finish. Huzzah!

  • Long day decant.
    Oxblood in color. Bricking rim.
    Pencil lead, iodine, wet nails.
Unctuous. Tastes like the nose. Medium finish.
Decent BDX for the price. No complaints.
    Scratch Scotch eggs tonight.

  • Excellent. 13% alc. Very subtle and elegant wine.
    Colour: dark black berry
Bouquet: warm slightly jammy blackberry fruit, light spice and vanilla, with a touch of capsicum which I assume is the Cabernet Franc contribution.
Palate: similar to bouquet, very soft palate and fine grained tannins, but opens out really well, with dark plums, sour cherries and black pepper, coffee, touch of mint, velvety texture and very long finish.

  • Decanted about 2 hrs before drinking.
    Modest sediment.
The soft merlot fruit with the cabernet sauvignon plus a little franc come together to make for a delightful wine.
