Slow ox’ed for two hours. Dark garnet with slight bricking on the side. Expressive nose with cherries, leather. Nice balance with good acidity and chalky tannins. Layered, fresh, slightly minerally-driven, with cherries, tobacco leaves, leather, anise notes to precede a medium -long ending with oak and spice notes. My first Gaja and I was impressed by the refinement and depth. Hold 3-4 years if you can. Thanks to our guests for bringing this!

Light ruby with orange hue, long legs , on 👃 sweet cherries, prunes, wet forest floor, vanilla, walnuts, graphite, leather. Bone dry, medium structure, smooth frontal tannins, light alcohol burn on throat with textured cherries, black currant finish.

Decanted for 1-2h and enjoyed during our cheese pizza holiday wine dinner. Smooth and dry, well balanced nebbiolo, I would say good but not great, and certainly not worth the stratospheric price. That being said it was a perfect pairing with pizza tonight, and the bottle was among the first to be drained in the evening.

I’m in agreement with the 90 ratings, or less, more than the higher scores. I love Gaja, but this bottle is lame-sauce. It’s a little high toned on the palate, acidic, lacking balance like a tide building up to one side, and getting ready to swing back the other way. This is the first of four I’ve opened, but for the dollar, it wouldn’t make me holler for more. First world problems.

Still very youthful. Ripe round and smooth.
