  Deep gold. Aromas of citrus and honey with a touch of petrol. Now mouthfilling rather than linear, but still enlivened by excellent acidity. Beautiful mature Alsatian riesling.

What is truly amazing is that while you cannot really characterize or explicitly taste the fruit, it provides the backdrop of flesh that keeps this from seeming too dry or austere. Fantastic, almost fully mature Trimbach Riesling that reminds me of what the 1979 Frederic Emile was like at around age 30. Bottles like this will continue to distill down into the essence of Riesling for the next decade. I have had this wine 7 times with variable experiences, but oddly, the advanced and flawed bottles all showed up early (2006 to 2011), while the more recent bottles have been pristine. Go figure.
