43rd Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2016s (R&D’s): Half bottle. Youthful color. Aromas of pear nectar, dreamsicle and honeycomb. Medium-bodied with a nice vein of acidity and flavors of peach, apricot, honey and pineapple. Lengthy finish. (R&D)

Quite a deep yellow colour, amber; very rich on the palate, with honey, apricot, orange, vanilla and barley sugar: crème brûlée in a glass! This is very fine now, mature, perhaps a little lacking in acidity, but with plenty of life still. It reminds me of the 2003.

Some have noted "dark gold," to my mind I thought it was more on the pale side; still relatively youthful and I think decades of life are possible. What better way to conclude a pleasant meal than with this sweet, honied loveliness?

Great nose. Classic burst of sweetness then mouth filling flavour and lingering mix with balanced acidity. Drinking well.

Fine though nothing special. OK to drink, will be on plateau for a long period.
