Dinner at Kel's (Kelvin and Joyce's Place, Bishan): Pretty interesting - a good village, but still much too young. This was about as tough and masculine a Chambolle as I have ever had though. There were little furry, funky shades on the nose to go alongside rather reticent notes of dark cherries and bramble and spice and a little wet stone. Still very reticent I thought. The palate was just a touch more giving, but still rather tight and stubborn, with a nice clear expression of slightly sweet dark cherries and berries wrapped up in a cloak of for tannins and juicy acidity. Not fantastic depth, but it had good persistence, with a nice stony minerality winding its way into a slightly chewy finish seasoned with sweet spice and a touch of brambly herb. Not bad, but tough. Needs time yet.

Medium blood/ruby. Just a touch of orange in the rim. Fresh red fruit with floral touches on the nose. Pretty, but not deep. Mouth entry is cool with good acidity and red fruit. Medium weight in the mouth with a touch of spice. Finish is good, clean, and decent length. A lively and crisp but lightweight Chambolle. Not much changed 24 hours after opening.

Milo powder, cocoa and gingseng roots on the nose. Deep dark violets and damson fruit. Quite weighty and muscular for a chambolle.

Maybe a bad bottle. Over the top.. Smells like moss mixed with balsamico vinegar and old blackberries. Not good
