  • Nice cherry nose but very hard and stony on the palate to begin with. With air this developed well with more intensity on the nose and palate with wild strawberry fruit. Lots of slaty minerality, elegance, precision and good complexity for this level. Interesting to see where this goes.

  • From village vines planted in 1969 located adjacent to the Grand Cru, Musigny. I bought one of these near release with intentions of checking it and going back for more a month or two later. The upside of losing track of my plan is this has nearly 10yrs btls age and has entered its prime drinking widow. The downside, I loved it and can't find more. Oh well. I opened this a couple hours prior to diner and tasted. Finding it open & pleasing I simply slow-oxed in btl & Reidel Burg glasses the rest of the way.

Color is semi translucent ruby red. Not translucent red like most Mugniers. Started out with roses and spice on the nose. 4 hrs later it picked up some damp forest floor accents. The palate screams Chambolle with weightless elegance, a lacy texture and very pretty dark raspberry flavors balanced with mineral, spice and later some lovely forest floor notes. Energetic & fresh but super placid at the same time. We drank this all night long at temps between high 50s & 62. This might be different if you drink your reds pushing 70. We loved it tonight! So pure, elegant & ballet dancer like. Great with a little jazz in the background and pan seared tuna steaks. 13% alc. This is the best 2012 I've had to date. 93+ Paid $64, drinks like $100+.

  • A favorit producer, it´s just a village wine but so elegant, a beauty.

  • Reduced nose that dissipates to complex black fruit aromas. Medium weight palate and a delicious counterbalance of minerality with great length. Beguiling and very delicious. Grivot on form (again)
