Surprised by this wine, in a good way. Balanced, soft tannins, notes of plum and currant. If I had tasted this wine blind, I would never have guessed Washington -- it drinks like a third growth Bordeaux. I see several of the notes state this wine is tired, however I tasted 2 bottles in the past 2 days, and neither was tired -- these bottles were purchased on release and stored in the same cellar ever since. So, well stored bottles are doing quite well, though I don't know for how much longer -- drink up.

In appearance, this seems to have moved from purple youth and is showing more red-garnet and some age at the rim.
On the nose the cabernet sauvignon is perhaps prominent, along with a touch of smoke/earth and some integrated oak. Fruit still seems in good shape.
On the palate, it shows good balance of mid-weight. The fruit is indeed still doing well, acidity is supportive. There seems to be a definite rounding out from the merlot, removing any trace of austerity. If anything though, it feels a little too successful at rounding it out (perhaps this would have been a better feature in it's youth).
Overall a more than decent effort, but nothing strikes me as profound (not every wine needs to be though!)

Cassis and coffee on the nose. Nice oak, but probably a little past its prime. Very mello, but very little tannic structure.

This one sat in the bottle a little too long. It was much better a few years ago.
