  • Sehr reif, aber nicht alt, filigran, elegant, blasses braunrot, viel Depot, kein Schwergewicht, bald trinken

  • Brought a few back from the domaine in '99, and for a long time I wasn't enamoured of the results at home. It was clearly evolving though, and by final bottle in Jan '06 had really flowered in terms of mouthfeel: an age-only variant of smoothness and fullness, plus sufficient acidity to make it vital. The flavours were of a lesser vintage... and of the wine's remarkable concentration. Burnt caramel, cherry-jam and liquid pepper. Only minor liqueur (thank goodness), plum (ditto) and some minerality. Was good drinking, and its special mature qualities ultimately showed it as genuinely grand wine.
