B-W Kirchenstück 1999 einfach gigantisch frisch. So wenig Kirchenstück wie es nur geht. Zitrus ja, Nuß nein. Noch 10-15 Jahre trinkbar. 98. Da hatte Prager’s Klaus 2001 nix zu melden. Wirkte dagegen nahezu oxidiert. 94. Das einzige Mal einstimmiges Ergebnis.

Prager Dinner with Robert Bodenstein (Chicago, IL): In theory, I should have liked this wine more than the Achleiten -- it's a bit more complex, showing some smokiness, and more minerality and salinity -- a chablisienne analogue, perhaps? But it ends up sliding a little more austere for my palate, even though it's incredibly easy to see the resemblance between the two wines. If you dig for it, you can find a bit of the sweet fruit that I loved so much in the Achleiten, but at the end of the day, I much preferred that wine for its more easy-going disposition.

I loved the aromatics on this bottle: smoky and flinty, lots of floral, hints of secondary development. Very elegant, crisp and light on its feet. Ripe fruit, but for Wachau Smaragd a nicely restrained style. In a great place for me.

Prager Klaus-vertical (Szeged, Hungary (at the"club")): Complex, but developped nose. Dried citrus, dried plum, burnt sugar, herbs, tobacco. Medium body, mouth filling savours, though a little less intensive than the aboves. It also has good midpalate density, good structure, balance, but doesn’t offer as much focus, energy and length as the others in general in the row. It’s still an impressive wine particularly if we consider its age, just not incredible. 90-91

Various Wines @ Salil's (Vernon, CT): Wow... a great way to start an evening. Loaded with crunchy, chalky, flinty minerals, just the way I like it. Some nice apple and pear fruit with a pleasingly bitter fruit skin note. Long, lingering and deep. Lovely stuff.
