First of case, bought EP. Decanted for 2 hours. Surprised how evolved, tertiary stage, lots of mushroom flavours, little fruit. I had the MM 2009 Echezeaux the other day and in far better shape. Ill chalk this one down to the bottle.

Was hugely surprised how open and developed this was. I would never have guessed this to be 2010 grand cru. Quite developed with tertiary notes, and whilst some nice red fruits, a lot of mushrooms and barnyard. It was a really enjoyable wine, just not what I would expect from a 2010 grand cru. I would have probably assumed this to be early 2000s or a lighter vintage like 07/11.

Decanted for 3 hours. The nose shows bright black cherry, spice, sandalwood and a little funk that dissipated after a few hours. Ripe and deeply fruited palate with some saline freshness followed by drying astringent tannins on the finish. This wine has improved over the last 10 years, there’s still bit too much oak that is not integrated, but otherwise a very strong GE.

Amazing Ech, drinkable already but still young and further potential clearly visible. Tight, more reserved than the 2009. Notes of red fruit, spices, earth, game. Deep, complex, elegant. Give this till 2023 and drink the 2009 in the meantime which is more advanced in its development.

Surprisingly open for a 2010, this shows off lots of cherry and Asian 5-spice with what's ultimately a very Vosne-ish personality, unsurprisingly for Grands-Ech. A little specious? Modern and polished without a whack of oak, which is nice.

(Mongeard-Mugneret Grands-Echezeaux) Group's #4, my #9, 39 pts - dark cherry red color; serious brett, sous bois, tart red fruit, stemmy nose; tight, angular, bretty, tart cranberry, rosehips palate with stem bitterness; medium-plus finish (I'm thinking the version I tasted in 2012 with the distributor was a less than representative barrel sample)
(Mongeard-Mugneret Grands-Echezeaux) Medium dark cherry red color; sous bois, tart cherry, floral, ripe raspberry nose; tart cherry, integrating oak, tart cranberry, rosehips, mineral palate with medium acidity; needs 6 years; medium-plus finish 92+ points
