3 of 12 Opened @4:00 served @ 7:30 ….so opening one of these in February has become somewhat of an annual event, for the third year in a row this continues to be ready to go after a few hours in a decanter. Fresh fruited, nice spice, good depth lovely elegant mouth fell and finish … yum

Stemmy, full in texture, secondary development but fruit is till quite prominent. Prominent wood, very assertive and almost overdone in terms of tannin structure. Not fully knitted together and not a display of elegance, much more about power

2 of 12 Opened @ 3:00, double decanted @ 5:00 and served alongside 2005 Dujac CSD @ 9:00 …. As with my last bottle last February, this wine continues to be surprisingly approachable for an 05 grand cru. Fresh red fruit layered with spice and some minerality. Balanced, energetic, persistent

decanted 2 hours, in the glass for 2+ more. med red, clear to the rim; feral & black soil-compost initially, flits in 'n out w/wonderful baking spice, wild red berries, incense; brilliant weight; roasted wild cherries & plums, concentrated, granular & youthful, insistent fine tannins & acids; hold for me but good to check in.
relative to its sibling '05 Echezeaux recently enjoyed, more structure, presence & potential; perfect w/supper after Duke-UNC game

This bottle was purchased upon release and stored between 55-65°F and humidity 59-67%.
Wine stained the cork at its greatest, 5mm above it’s bottom surface. The full cork measured 55mm.
There were also a few crystals on the cork dirface.
At first, the wine smelled like fresh shucked oysters which isn’t amazing for wine. This dissipated after 5-10 minutes.
Fruit: dark fruit like blueberry, a hint of strawberry, and a little bubblegum.
Funk: there is just a hint of funky stink, mostly in a good way.
Wood: there is some chainsaw cut maple wood on the end aroma.
Je ne say quois: soupçon of McD French fry
Umami: dried shitaki mushroom aroma comes through
Acidity: I detect a slight hint of pickle from a barrel. Very bright and balanced.
Overall: very good. It’s in middle maturity.
