The Triolet is the unsung hero of Mount Mary wine lineup. It has always delivered in terms of complexity and enjoyment. Give it time and proper cellaring, it is one of Australia’s gems. In fact, I would say the Triolet is probably the best wine that Mount Mary makes. What does best mean? Consistency year in and out, wonderful texture and balance, and always has the complexity matching the Bordeaux blanc.
The 2010 that I had tonight was no exception. Honey, floral and citrus nose, the body was painted on a Semillon canvas that showed the wonderful Sauvignon Blanc - fruity, passionfruit and a hint of pineapple and pear. Drink now or another 4+ years.
