This was an extremely intense wine (in the best way). Possessing an extremely tertiary nose, you could tell the complexity of this wine simply by smelling it as aromas of raspberries, forest floor and licorice worked in tandem, accompanied by hints of tobacco and cherries. The palette continued to play on that tertiary angle as the upfront contained a lot of tobacco and spices before the mid-palette introduced the fruitier components of raspberries and redcurrants. Bringing in anise over a long finish, this wine has plenty of life left, but the complexity on the night was truly a joy to savour.

Allowed around 1 hour of bottle breathing. Bouquet showed good quality with good mixtures of fruits, mints, mineral with very light touch of earthy tone. The flat palate was a letdown without vivid fruits or good layers. Soso at this stage.

Intense, complex and in a beautiful place. Layered with boysenberry, blueberries, violets, hints of licorice, exotic spices and smoke. Finishes long, silky and with vibrant energy and tension. From the Stone Barns Cellar.

Certainly lots of power and definition here. And coming into form right now as well.

Strawberry, red fruits, leather, medium tannin and acidity. Slight diluted at the end of taste but overall enjoyable for a weak vintage.
