  • Very true to its origin. Dark fruit with tobacco, earth, and touch of forest floor. Tannis are ripe and nearly absorbed, but still there. Very enjoyable now but best in couple of years.

  • Very complex and perfectly aged Paleo with garnet reflections at the eye and a marvellous scent of tobacco, earth, sweet liquorice, graphite with a backbone of aromatic herbes and smoothed tannins. Really outstanding as all Paleo ante 2000 I have tasted.

  • This is fading and bricking around the edges but still has a deep core. The nose is lovel, probably more secondary than fruit now, but still very seductive. The palate is fully resolved, there's more fruit here but with plenty of tobacco and leather to go with it, there's a fine cut of acidity which could be a little stronger. The finish is medium length and just a little drying. I don't think it's likely to improve from here on, but could hold for a while if you wanted.

  • sumptuous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (85%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Sangiovese. Pure velvet at the palate with armonic hints of black ripe plums, sweet liquorice, grass tobacco, earth and leather. Smoothed tannins leave their way to a juicy rich nectar. Elegant and classy. Probably at its apogee a couple of years ago but still near its top. Medium-to-long finish with slightly bitter aftertaste. Note that starting from 2001 the Paleo is 100% made of Cabernet Franc

  • Went up against a 1998 Seavey Cabernet and the Paleo won hands down. Didn't take detailed notes, but out of nine aged wines from the US, France and Italy, this was the wine of the night.
