A lovely deep ruby core and explosive perfume package of strawberries, menthol, graphite and bubble gum are the outer qualities of the 2009 Paleo Rosso. This 100% Cabernet Franc is full bodied, opulent, elegantly tannic, and pleases the palate with loads of flavourful chocolate, blueberries, caramel syrup and Grand Marnier. The silky finish lingers on for forty five seconds. This is a great achievement that has just entered its maturity phase. It is ready to be enjoyed now but will certainly continue to evolve gracefully for the next decade, if not longer.
A very impressive, full bodied Cabernet Franc wine. Very expressive and approachable right now. I liked it very much, but the above 60 euro (USD 80) price tag makes me feel that it is a bit overpriced.
EWS Best of Bolgheri (New York Vintners): High-toned boozy nose has amplitude but without much character. Then thrilling, pure, and sophisticated with hints of maraschino. Tastes more Bordeaux than Italian. Perfect persistence and wow what a solid finish, endless, perfect; bursts of sweet fruit. One of the best pure cab franc's I've had.
