In a pretty happy place. Nose is reticent/subdued but it is quite lovely in the mouth which leads me to suspect it is a bit shut down. Still has signs of youth on the nose and palate but is nicely integrated and should be ready to age gracefully for many years. Pretty much what one expects from VCC. No surprises. Just really lovely red Pomerol .
Heater week; 3/26/2023-4/3/2023 (Chicago, IL): I need to buy more VCC. In this average vintage, the estate has produced a stunning wine. Sure, it's relatively large-scaled, but the balance of pyrazine and ripe black fruit is amazing. Intense and powerful, this will undoubtedly be a long-lived edition of this wine. This belongs in my cellar and I'll be searching some out. Fortunately I've plenty of time to do so, because this won't be nearing maturity for a long while.

Very shut down at this point. Nice, but hard to evaluate.

Stunning merlot nose, drinking well with 2-3 hours of air, ever so slight heat on the finish but a nice Pomerol
