Very interesting bottle that not everyone enjoyed. Very fresh nose despite a few subtle hints of oxidation. I smelled pear, balsamico, banana. Very smooth on the finish, overall a very interesting wine that I enjoyed a lot.

From a magnum, I imagine this is much better than you'll find in a regular bottle. Rustic textured on the palate, but there is also a beauty in the truffle, earthy, cigar box, plum and cherry personality. Air helped add softness to the wine, but this is definitely an old school charmer.

Achim's Magnum Tasting 2016 (Berens am Kai 1 star Restaurant): From Magnum Caramell, red cooked fruits (not in an overripe way), no oxidation signs, licorice, cigar box, black tea after half hour, long clean finish after cassis and cherries, precise and refreshing, 97-98
The '55 VCC is a terrific example of this estate, blooming in the decanter to reveal a bouquet of red cherry, tobacco leaf, woodsmoke and black truffle. Supple, bright and beautifully sappy on the palate, with great intensity and supreme elegance. The '55 vintage in Pomerol is clearly worthy of serious attention.

1950s Bordeaux from Elke (Bad Neuenahr): Lovage, pear, balsamic, fermenting banana, good length, held up well with air. Great to drink now
