OK, it's a bit over the hill now, even my very carefully cellared bottles. But it's a very high hill, and it'a not far down from the top. So it still towers over many similar wines. Lovely chardonay profile is now slightly maderized, with very little obvious fruit, but still quite pleasant. There are some very nice toasty notes, some butter and cream and a bit of petroleum on the nose. It's like dating someone a bit old, but very nice to be with. It was a lot better four years ago. But then, so was the world.

Served from a magnum at a recent wine dinner. It was probably a top 3 best white wine I've ever had. It was in great shape given the age - surely the magnum had a lot to do with that. Very vibrant minerality and great acidity were present. Color was still golden, so this bottle had not developed a darker color yet. Winemaker used 0% new oak on this but I feel like I still picked up an ever so slight hint of oak in a good way. If you have magnums that were properly stored of this, I would probably open soon. Bravo

This wine continues to fade. This bottle started weak and slipped away quickly in the glass.

Montrachet Dinner: 10 Vintages of Ramonet and Marquis de Laguiche, 1983-2002 (Oceana - New York NY): Ripe and powerful with nicely maturing stone fruit. Long, powerful finish is the most expressive and fun part here. Good life remaining here.
