Deep garnet in the glass. Definitely at its peak, but luckily not declining yet. This will drink nicely in 2024 and I see it slowly starting to fall apart in a year. Nose of dried cranberry, overripe raspberry, eucalyptus, cigar box, dried soil, espresso. Full-bodied with moderate acidity, big alcohol and soft tannins. Medium-bodied with a moderate finish. Nice wine, great piece of history, but needs to be drunk soon.

Big round luscious peppery berry flavours. Still very drinkable but perhaps now at its peak, maybe a little more left in it. Very enjoyable after a little time in the decanter.

To welcome in the new year, this was a sublime wine to do it with. Still big with mellowed depth, beautifully balanced, berries and plum, a little spice. Just got better over the night.

Dull red and slightly sedimentary. A bit of prune on a fairly unremarkable nose. Notes of prune, sweet stewed fruits, and a slightly off characteristic.

NobleRottersSydney - even year Shiraz (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): [Graeme] {cork, 13.7%} Served after the E&C; much more closed, with developing notes of dark chocolate and a hint of mint, but not aggressively so. The palate is all black fruit, with no green characters here. Iron-like flavours, ferric almost, with flavours of dust and dirt. The nearest to an old-world wine we had all night (port excepted!). Medium dusty tannins, medium acid and perhaps medium-full in body. The flavours are a touch muted at the moment; perhaps a more vigorous decant than a quick double-decant two hours earlier would have helped; but this is about structure more than anything. At any rate this seems like it will sail through another ten years easily. Very good.
