  • double decanted 3+ hours before dinner. Huge wine, great depth, well balanced and long finish. Typical wendouree shiraz - excellent. 7 hours later and its still opening up. wonderful mouthfeel, soft tannins, full from front to back palate and finish that goes on and on...excellent wine

  • 21 yrs old and going strong. lovely, rich shiraz nose. Dark fruit. Soft tannins but plenty on the front palate and long, long finish. Given the vintage, this is an amazing wine. Will be great in 10 yrs.

  • Red berry and cherry, biscuit, leather, sweet tobacco, slightly spiritous on the nose...in the mouth slightly sour red berry and cherry fruit, spicy, tangy. Fine silky tannin on the front of the mouth and gums. Long finish. Hmm.

  • Meaty and savoury nose. Powerful on the palate. Very youthful still. Needs some more time.

  • Wendouree Shiraz 1993 - A completely different style. Much more an old fashioned aussie shiraz with a much smaller percentage of new oak. The wine has a really fantastic and refined aromas of peppermint, blackberries, white pepper and a touch of earth. while on the nose it is clearly Oz (one can smell the heat of the clare valley), it is also all class - this is a new world wine whose aroma would not be embarrased by a highy complex cote rotie, which is not to say this wine smells anything like a cote rotie. in the mouth very smooth and velvety. not too long or concentrated, but a complete wine with plenty of fruit. The wine offers considerable complexity and works really well at the dinner table. A wine worth seeking out for a flashback to an older style of Australian reds. 90 points for its complexity - esp on the nose.
