Wendouree survey (Chicago, IL): Loved this. Saline and salty, with an olive brine tone on the nose here. Really light touch, with a silky elegance that shows a bit of smoke as well. Unmistakably syrah, though the pepper notes are somewhat muted. Wonderful stuff that is already approachable and very much enjoyable; one of my favourite wines this evening.

A slow blooming nose. Black and blueberry, perfumed, rose petals even. Violets? Yeah, that works. One of the finest Wendouree Shiraz palates. Only medium bodied but beautiful fruit, pitch perfect. Such fine powdery tannins, with the volume to lend structure and balance. In a word, purity. Should age gracefully. Showed blind to a number of top palates including a leading winemaker who rightly claims he can spot a Wendouree at a thousand paces. No-one picked it. Love to watch where this one will go.

SLDS - PR GC: Bright nose - violets, plum, rose and blackcurrant. Really fine balance even so early on, the fruit is bright and clean, this is the essence of purity for Shiraz. Has lift and verve to it. Fantastic even with how young it is.
