This was pretty awesome - fully mature and quite delicious. Nose of mature dark fruit, dried leaves and leather. On the palate smooth and silky, mature dark and red fruit, leather earth and some spices - not a hint of jammy or high alcohol anywhere in sight. Lots of layered flavors and a long finish - a real treat.

Opened this with a bunch of friends as we were planning our trip to Australia. Great to see how well this aged. There's still some new world fruit, but there's a bit more leather and secondary notes going on too. I think it surprised most folks as it was very much not in the jammy style that some associate. Interesting to also try next to the Shiraz-Mataro - this was a bit lighter and perhaps also though less complex.

(Christmas.Brunner) Dark leafy concentration, opulent, dark berries, green stem, focused with a elegant clarity. Cool sweet leaf, cedar box, tobacco, soft leather, complex, young despite its age, finishing complex with fivespice and floral perfume. Thoroughly astonishing and enjoyable!
