Kind of a strange and disjointed wine. Initially it's all about high acidity and reddish fruits and then it just suddenly changes into a really overpowering roasted nut (walnut?) note that totally dominates the mid palate and finish. I usually like nuttiness but this was just too one-note. And the alcohol is hot on the palate. Moderate sweetness, not uber-concentrated. Not sure if this will improve much with further age.

Opened my 4th bottle. This was heavily sedimented. Inky purple color. If you are looking for a Port that has a bite, this is not it. This showed rather smooth and elegant at this stage. Integrated tannins. Not of prunes, sweet blackberries and some smokiness. I really liked this. 92 points.

Was excited for this one, but turned out slightly disappointed, not really balanced, alcohol felt bit warm and the mid palate rather watery. Still special drinking developed vintage ports

1970-2000 Fonseca Vintage Ports Vertical (Palo Alto, California): Nose: 91; Palate: 91-92
My #6; Group's #1; Tasted blind.
This felt much more mature than it was. I personally thought this was the '77

Winefield's auction pre-sale tasting: lovely colour, ripe with a sturdy core, modestly (Fonseca!) sweet, juicy and with a nice aftertaste.
