Gave it a good 2.5 hr decant and this wine is drinking incredibly now with a real Graves character. There are wonderful smoky notes on the nose and palate and deep flavors of black forest fruits. That amazing silky texture that aged Bordeaux gets is here and the finish is stunningly complex with a powerful black licorice note that is pure and aromatic. The best '90's just keep getting better. This is ready to roll now at least with a good decant.
The wine is dark with the expected red bricking - darker than I expected. A light, delicate nose. 12.5 ABV. Oak, florals. The palate is beautiful red fruit, raspberry, florals, hint of mocha. Just gorgeous and much more alive for a 25+ year old wine. The tannins are still very much present, though slightly relaxed. There is still time ahead for this wine. Had this been blind, I might have guess a wine a decade younger. Nice long finish that is vibrant and calling. Day two with just a cork in it overnight saw little change except for the palate to be slightly more developed. Love it.
Excellent Bordeaux. Nice bouquet, elegant and silky palate. Little tannin, very smooth yet complex. Berries, leather, tobacco and a nuance of smoke. A little Chinese 5 spice powder on the finish. Unlikely to get better, but may still hold for a couple years. Simply a splendid wine.
