This was the last bottle of 1994 in my cellar. A little past its best as the crumbling cork indicated on opening; very drinkable nevertheless. Light brown in colour, indicative of its age, with a very faint bouquet. The bottle was decantered with a little sediment. Dry flinty taste, pleasant to drink but past alas its peak.

Another '94 claret bites the dust. Purple-garnet, just a slight bricking towards the rim. Broad minty cassis, really nice, like grinding blackcurrant leaves in your palm (Lafite springs to mind), a bit of red fruit flesh underneath, and some tertiary spice and sois-bois. The palate is unfortunately not as generous: tightly wound, decent fruit, not much tannin left but heaps of acidity. Long finish. Outstanding nose but the palate doesn't really deliver the same level of intensity. Nevertheless one of the better '94 classed growths I've had, no doubt. Kudos to the effort and longevity shown in such a difficult vintage. Drink now.

Beautiful, intense deep purple/black currant color. Nose is a bit closed with mild, oaky aromas. Classic Margaux flavors with elegant, balanced, and seductive fruit. Well produced and matched perfectly with grilled rack of lamb with blue cheese topped on it. 11/15.

Given as a present by some good Bordeaux friends. Was earthy, compact and drying. On the way down.
