  • Christmas dinner: Opened and poured through a filter. Decanted an hour or so in wine fridge. There was mold on the cork and the initial smell and taste was very funky. It improved hour by hour. If you have this, I suggest drinking now and decanting for 3 hours. It needs the air to blow off funk. Very evolved and in tertiary stage.

  • Still drinking well but on a slight decline stage. A blend of 65% CS, 30% Merlot and 5% CF. Deep garnet colour. Pronounced aroma of tobacco, smoky plums, cassis, tobacco, leather, dried rose petals, spices. Medium body, silky texture, elegant medium light density, expressive flavours of ripe sweet red and black berries enveloped in earthy and smoky scents, velvety tannins and long smoky and dry fruit fragrant finish.

  • Mature Garnet, nose is lovely and gentle, tobacco and cedar. Palate is mid weight but good integration, has Cru Classé finesse although not the concentration or ripeness of the modern era. Very enjoyable current drinking.

  • After many years of underwhelming performance this CB "resurfaces" as a truly pleasurable Margaux! Wonderful, sweet berries, fine leather, tobacco, subtle cask notes and a nice mentholic frame. Consider to drink now.

  • Excellent cork and fill. Wonderful bright typical nose with light fruit and tannins upon opening. The wine opened fully in about 20 minutes with balanced typical flavors. Delicious wine probably good for a couple more years in the cellar but why wait? Very good with lamb chops, oven roasted potatoes, green beans from the garden and chocolate after. This wine confirms again why I drink old clarets.
