Decanted for 30 minutes but may benefit from an additional 15-20 minutes as the wine continued to open in the glass. The color was a pale gold. Aromas of wet stone, honeysuckle, and lemon. The medium to plus bodied palate is smooth with white fruit (pear and melon), lemon, minerality and some spice. The acidity is well integrated making the wine very smooth and drinking very well. This wine is, as stated on the back label, "a fruity, non-oaky, non-Malolactic Chardonnay that is widely recognized as a great food wine" and should hold for several years.

This was similar to a 2013 I drank last fall, which was purchased from my local wine shop, though this 2014 I picked up at auction. Neither was particularly enjoyable. I see the very high recent review scores given for the 2014 and am a bit puzzled. I don’t think this bottle was cooked or over the hill, yet it didn’t have much pleasure to give, similar to the 2013 - while the color was medium straw and texture silky, there was no discernible fruit, the primary flavor was tart almond paste, and the finish was a bit shrill. Finishing the bottle was achieved though that was more difficult out on day two.

agree w/KABERT tasting note. quite austere and lacking in fruit. I like liner chard's but this just wasn't doing it for me
