Retail $55. The word "legendary" gets thrown around quite a bit in the wine world, almost to the point of causing the term to lose meaning. Although I have only met Rick Longoria once (and I am quite certain he has no recollection of the encounter), I have been drinking his wines for years. Fe Ciega, a small (just under 10 acres) vineyard in the Sta Rita Hills appellation, which Rick planted in 1998, has not only become synonymous with the Longoria brand, it has also reached "legendary" status. Rather dark in the glass with black cherry a-go-go but there is also plenty of red fruit (plum), floral notes (lavender, rose), a touch of spice (black pepper), and a bit minty, even. The palate is close to euphoric: fruity, rich, tart, multi-layered, and balanced. A fantastic Pinot, perhaps even better on Day 2. Outstanding. thedrunkencyclist.com

This wine confuses me, i get the loamy funk. I get strawberrys and rhubarb. The wine is medium bodied. Decant because the high tones take time. Some red fruits, but 93 points ? More like 88
You can tell the potential is there. We popped and poured this, pairing it with baked pork loin. My wife's description was "bitey", which wasn't too far off base. Nose had some initial funk when first opened, nice red fruit with strawberry and red cherry. Some heat, some tightness, some more time in the bottle. This needs at least another year, maybe two, so things can mellow and organize. Note to self, decant 45-60 minutes before touching.

Some spicy notes. Solid overall if not spectacular.
