  • My apologies again! I see that I have been lax entering notes. At the Acker BYOB-boy that feels like a million years ago! An excellent wine, that is drinking very well. Gentleman sitting next to me said he bought it on release. Fruit, soup bois, great typicite. Should hold for many years. 1996? Well yes if they’re like this.

  • Might have been a bit too harsh with the last bottle about two years ago. This is holding up very well for a 1er Cru Volnay at twenty years of age. A slightly dull garnet in the glass, plenty of earth and wood spices, red and dark fruit, elevated acidity, medium finish. Well done - no need to wait but will hold

  • PnP. Cork in very good condition. Garnet with translucent rim. Very earthy nose, high acidity, the nose could be just as well a Northern Rhone, soft and fairly lush palate with fine to medium tannins, some medicinal notes, fairly high acidity, rather short finish.

  • Initially a bit of musty funk that blew off with 5 or so minutes in the glass, leaving a wonderfully warm and inviting wine. Deep red in the glass with only hints of browning and showing warm dark red fruits and spice over velvety tannins with a developed autumnal quality. So satisfying on a wintery night at the local Peking Duck spot.

  • The wine was in perfect condition and surprisingly youthful. Its color was deep red with no hint of terracotta. It still showed vibrant red fruit balanced by strong, though silky, tannins, and refreshing acidity. It is built of sterner stuff than some Volnays, but it by no means lacks grace. It should remain vigorous for five years or longer.
