Ruby red. Drinking well now and showing the material for a bright future. Concentrated red berry and earth, assertive tannins; extremely balanced, deep flavors, classy delivery.

This was purchased on release & stored in my Eurocave. The color on this bottle looked quite advanced, showing more bricking then I would have expected. The wine is intact, and correct, but nothing of a "wow" factor I had hopes for. Based on this, I'll be drinking my other bottle within the next 2-4 years.

Fruits rouges, cerises, épices, assez bel ensemble et du fruit en masse mais un sentiment un peu “sucreux” en bouche, sans être mauvais, pas ma meilleure cuvée Carnot à vie. 89-90
Lots of red fruit, plate felt a little sweet strangely, not bad but i love this cru much better usually.

Ruby red colour. Red berries and darker cherries, earth, anise, almost a bit chocolatey. Some florals on the nose too. Tannins still pretty assertive and this took some decanting to open up. Probably needs another few years but highly enjoyable now. Decent length. Good.

It seems the Bouchard team did a good job toning down the extraction, which was very gentle in 2015. Increased use of whole bunch, almost no punch downs and the exclusion of press wine have resulted in a wine which on this particular evening showed all the aromatic amplitude, finesse and energetic interplay between fruit and acid you could hope for in Volnay Caillerets. Present but correct tannins. Good length. Needs time of course but on this sample one can be extremely encouraged. Though already truly enjoyable this is prospectively very fine and every effort should be made to resist drinking this very complete wine for another decade.
