Boston Wine & Poker, Brookline, NH: Tasted blind. Some browning, but tastes younger than it looks. Spiciness, with a little tartness. This was paired with the 1999 Clerget Volnay Caillerets -- I preferred the Clerget, but this was also very tasty, and it might still improve with age (in spite of the already evident browning). From Philip's cellar.

The first bottle I opened of this vintage was so unremarkable I did not bother recording a tasting note. When I first opened this bottle, I thought ?meh" but within an hour everything came together. It has a beautiful light ruby color with some bricking consistent with signs of aging. Beautiful perfumed nose, with elegant red fruit with umami and earthy notes. Very good representation of Volnay that took a few years to show itself. Drink now - 2025.

From the dreaded 2007 vintage this is perfectly respectable Burgundy. Good stuff with some stuffing.
