Stored in cold cellar since release. Has the acidity of the vintage. Depth, full bodied for a Burgundy. Needed plenty of time to develop -could be decanted if time short. Drink to 2020.

Eighth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): Popped and poured, so I was surprised how approachable and balanced this came across. Ripe red and black cherry, great structure, very good spice. Better with more time in the cellar.

Wow , this was really fruity right out of the bottle, and it maintained a completely New world profile for as long as it lasted. Although some earthier elements tried to get through, it was dominated by sweet red fruit , a cola syrup aspect that I associate with California Pinots, and an obvious smoky oak imprint. Highly extracted, overly manipulated wine. As removed from the overall style and structure of 1996 Burgundy as one can get. Very bizarre.

Burgundy Retrospective - 1996 (Version KS) (Washington DC): Flower, dry cherries, sort of weird as the fruit was on and off. Hard to judge but even when expressive not too impressive.
