Got a glass here now and the nose is antiseptic spray and band aid. After being open and decanted for 30 minutes, the palate is tart red cherry, acerola cherry, with a light creamy nuance. There’s no nuance to the large amount of chewiness and tannins in the finish. It would go great with Italian food This came from a 1/2 bottle

From 375:Nose of licorice. and alcohol. Typical nebiollo tannic bite, but a lot of fruit is there as well. Ignore the cellar tracker admonition, this wine is still young. Drinking well now, but will hold

From 375: Reticent nose. Licorice and tannin on the palate. This wine, unlike most 2003's, needs more time to reach it's full potential. I'll let my remaining bottle sleep in my cellar for a few more years. No hurry to drink up. Addendum: I just gave this another point. After warming up from my 50 degree cellar, the nose appeared and it is lovely. Rose petals and licorice burst from the glass. If you have this in larger format, consider decanting.

This wine is still insanely young. Even the next day it barely softened. Very reticent on the nose and just a brick wall of tannin. There is some Barolo character there - tobacco, menthol, some florals, and very dark fruit but I don't know what will be left by the time the tannins soften. This is a challenge right now even with food.
