Armand Rousseau Dinner: Pronounced nose intensity with notes of flora, violet, red cherry, mushroom, strawberry, graphite. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Long finish. Aeration in the bottle around 4 hours. Finesse on both palate and nose

Oregon Trip-Day 1 (Here and there, Willamette Valley): Ruby core with little fading. Riper and slightly denser than the Mugneret. Some earth tones, less green, and more monochromatic at this point. A beautiful young Grand Cru that is already open but showing only a fraction of its allure. Best to revisit in another 8-10 years.

Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): This very well might be the first time that I’ve ordered a burgundy off a list but it is rare to see a Rousseau that doesn’t have four digits and Rousseau is on the short list of burgundies where I understand why everyone loves the region so much. So we went for it. And it was really lovely. Just lifted, delicate, lots of intrigue and yet so very soft in style. Very enjoyable.

During Rousseau Ruchottes evening in flight with 01 and 02 the 05 was more accessible than anticipated but still playing it somewhat close to its chest. That being said it wasn't brutal and true to Ruchottes had elegance just felt like it needed another 10 years to relax. It's all tucked in here to be clear. Question with these 05s though largely remains - (when) will they really blossom? Or will it always feel a bit like driving a great car with the hand break slightly on...?

(Rousseau Armand Ruchottes-Chambertin) In every dimesion this is a junior Charmes - surprising - the only advantage it seems to show is elegance and athleticism - both good points.

Way too young for me to evaluate. Has good potential but needs at least another 5 years.
