A wine that blindly I would have thought could be located in Serralunga. It's been a while since I've drunk a Barolo with such thick, allappant tannin. Really difficult to drink without accompanying it with something to eat. I did not expect this from a 2016 especially from Sandrone. The aromatic profile at first was very varietal with ripe red fruits, some mint and roses. The next day the aromatic profile shifted to spices and herbs. As already mentioned with such tannicity it is difficult to describe the other characteristics of the wine. Too bad. We will see in 10 years.

De loin, le plus grand Barolo que j'ai bu en 25 ans de dégustation et peutêtre même le plus grand vin italien. Fabuleux maintenant, il sera encore plus grand dans 10 ou 20 ans, pour ceux qui ont la patience

Ripe, perfumed Nebbiolo fruit on the nose, juicy and rich, but then you take a sip and this is all about finesse with floral flavors buoyed by bright acidity and little sense of weight. Very good but I never trust how Sandrone's wines will age.

Piemonte: Back to the truffling!; 11/24/2022-12/3/2022 (Wineries and various restaurants): This is the winner of the tasting and I think if you had blinded us it would not have mattered because there is a tastiness and a power and structure to it that is just compelling. Lots of sandy and limestone soil. This was once upon a time a cannubi vineyard but the grandfather showed what family means (same grandfather who made sure when dolcetto was sellable that he was focused on barolo). Sometimes it is just not about money.
