The Toren V is a rock of comfort to me. This Stellenbosch icon shows a warm Bordeaux style blend that outclasses most (or maybe all) Bordeaux reds with a comparable price-tag.
👃🏻👅Black cherries, blackcurrants, blackberries, earthy and woody. Spices includes eucalyptus, cacao, tobacco, cedarwood, pepper/cloves and graphite. Smooth, rich and warm. The finish is nice and long.

Not sure if this was a bad bottle. Initially out of the bottle the fruit was still sharp and I thought I might have opened too early. Within 30 mins it flattened out to where fruit was faint, disappearing fairly quickly. Mouthfeel and tannins were well-integrated and there was the edge of cab (more aged tobacco than green grass), but it just didn't pop for me. Reasonable quality overall, but at the price point I'd prefer Rust en Vrede or Tokara's Red Blend.
Praelum - South Africa: Then and Now (Praelum Wine Bistro): Deep ruby. Some grilled meaty aromas, grass, paprika. Tannic, quite mouthwatering, flavours of rose petals, blackberry, purple flowers, twigs. Found the finish rather short though

Lovely aromas of vanilla blueberry oak. Lighter flavors of clove and white pepper.
