Wines Tasted at the La Paulée Verticals Session (The Maybourne, Beverly Hills): Based upon tastes from 2 bottles. Deep color. Ripe aromas. Quite glycerine, rich, powerful black and blue fruit with solid acidity, a good dose of soil, and substantial penetrating, persistent tannins. Marvelous volume and feel. Very early days. It could be outstanding if the fruit tones down a bit and more complexity ensues.

KYD #2.1: Lovely and precise wine but also packed with young harsh tannins. High acidity but also dense flavors of dark fruit. It is chalky but also has some soy and bonfire notes to it. The wine presents itself as extremely young and with a huge potential. Herbal and smokey flavors but also harsh and somewhat closed despite yielding quite a bit of impressions. It also has a note of sweetness to it. Overall, a stunning wine that will continue to improve for many years.

La Paulée de Los Angeles - The Verticals (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): Walkaround vertical tasting. Huge volume and density with wonderfully bright fruit. So much tannin, but nothing coarse or dominating, this is a great wine under slow development, 94-95 point potential, from 2030 or 2035 forward.
