PROFOUND SAAR. So lifted and intense on the nose: honeysuckle, dried mint, mango, yellow peach, pear, black tea, alpine breeze, a little pineapple and pithy lemon... Silky, plush, succulent and seamless on the palate, there's a strong acid line but is it buried so deep. Easy and fresh, this is quite sweet, yes, but if you can't appreciate sweet fruit like this there's something wrong with you. Pixelated finish goes on forever, with myriad herbal, floral and delicate pith notes to offset the sublime dominant fruit, there is a redolence of tea that is utterly intoxicating. This will be best in 10 to 20 years. Crazy crazy good, this is a crystal clear example of Riesling's supremacy.

Really nicely balanced already. Refined sweetness with a nice acid undercurrent and a cotton candy body that melt away. Mostly lemon and melon on the fruit, but it’s great fruit.

Method: blind against 9 other 2019 Spatlese; ice bucket cold (colder than I prefer); opened a few hours in advance
Nose: faint peach, very faint spice; closed
Palate: ripe mango, bitter herbs, light jasmine; long finish; medium body; medium+ sweetness; medium+ acid
Overall: The nose was pretty closed, but the palate was expressive. Currently a bit bolder of a Spatlese, but great balance. Ranked right in the middle at #5 for the blind Spatlese tasting. Great wine.
Update: A few days later, the baby fat receded and the minerality that I associate with Zilliken Saarburger Rasch was more apparent. Long life ahead of of this wine.
