Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 91.7 points

  • Deep, dark reddish-purple in color, essentially opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty, floral & herbal notes, minerals, tobacco, spices & a slight hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with herbs, spices, minerals & oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but will develop further with additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score (93+). A blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot & 7% Cabernet Franc from the following vineyards: 33% Klipsun Vineyard, 25% The Canyon Vineyard, 17% Tapteil Vineyard, 14% Quintessence Vineyard & 10% Weather Eye Vineyard.

  • Color: deep garnet
    Nose: vanilla, raspberry, cherry
Taste: red fruit, baking spices, vanilla
Vanilla and tannins upfront with fruit second. This needs some time but shows good promos. 66% Cabernet,20% merlot, the rest petit Verdot and cab franc.

  • Massive, chewy wine. Plan a big meal around this one. Give it some air and stand back. A little more.
An abundance of fruit and oak on the nose is a welcome relief from sniff-hunting wines for any aroma you recognize. I’d like to be able to get one thing out of a glass without reading someone else’s TN and going “oh yeah, blackberry, huh.”
My guess is it will just get more integrated over time, but it’s pretty good right now.
