Nose: dark chocolate, plum, vanilla, pepper, cinnamon Notes: 14.5% ABV. Clearly way too young for consumption now. Very full bodied and sweet. Honestly sometimes I'm unsure about the Penfolds house style as everything is just really ripe, sun-kissed and without a better word, sweet. I personally think that whenever something is this ripe it will result in a compromise in terms of elegance and balance. Although I do enjoy a Grange occasionally I can't say the 798 is my thing. Bring an interesting wine theme: Immediately identifiable as Oz Shiraz which most people guessed correctly. Large-scaled wine that had heavy mocha overtones, cloyingly sweet fruit. Impenetrable now, couldn't take more than a sip of this.
