Annual wine trip; Bourgogne & Champage with Bas; 6/14/2023-6/18/2023 (France): [Tasting at Domaine William Fevre, Chablis] From the steepest parts of their Bougros holding, which is almost always bottled separately. According to the Domaine it typically has more muscle and for this wine I agree. Also a bit more character. 92-93

tasted at the domaine; 60% barrel aging; this comes from a section at the bottom of Bougros that is a 50% slope with much less soil; more floral and mineral than the other Bougros with spices and ripe apple; again great intensity with a long mineral tinged finish; I liked this more than the regular cuvee and it seems to have more substance for development

After three bottles of the 2008 that I sent back to the supplier because of premox, I opened this bottle with some trepidation. Pale yellow / straw color, light body, low+ acidity, nose of citrus, lemon grass, apple, flowers. The palate is more flowers, some apricot and a nutty / walnut finish. In my opinion, this is not a great representation of Burgundy; it's a well balanced wine, but it's missing the steely minerality of a Puligny-Montrachet or the layers of a Chassagne-Montrachet. Not really Grand Cru material. For the price, Burgundy can do better.

Great nose, highly perfumed, floral, mandarin orange, Meyer lemon, tangy, oyster shell, long, apple, crisp and lifted, velvety texture, tongly and very long. Loved it!!
