Dark cherry, crimson. Nose dark red berries, earth, chocolate and touch of stones. Palate beautiful structured, poised with intensity with medium density. excellent length and finish. In a great place now !
Took a good hour for the barnyard nose to blow off. But I knew there was a nice wine underneath. Crimson colored, medium body with slight blackberry hidden in the nose. Quite balanced, with a medium long finish. Best to let it evolve for 1-2 hours.
A very strong robust wine full of iron, earth, granite like minerals and savoury nuances. Shows a touch of red berry sweetness to contrast and is a beautifully made and balanced wine. The robustness is in no way "rustic" and there are some fine tannins in this classy 1er cru. No signs of slowing down either a great example of what Nuit Saint Georges is all about. Highly recommend.

(Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru "Les St. Georges") This is a meaty, wild, dense concentrated animalistic wine. Still though it had that fantastic Chevillon elegance. Does anybody make more elegant Nuits? The fruit was on the darker side of the spectrum and very concentrated. This was evil, brooding wine with style, flair and sap. One problem was that it was showed up with all of the other Grand Cru's. Probably should have left this out and added another Grand Cru . . .although it was educational and really showed the difference in refinement and class between 1er Cru and Grand Cru. A lovely wine that is drinking very well now but could use 5-10 more years in the cellar. The 1993 Les St. Georges is still my all time favorite Chevillon.
