  Limey and zingy, this is an electric C-M that impresses with green prickly pear margarita (not sweet), Squirt, limestone, lemon and lime juice and zest, and a striking minerality that complements the citrus exceptionally well. Finishes with more verve and pop. This is similar to the 2019, if not a little higher strung at the moment. No surprise, as it’s a year younger. I favor the 2019 for its tick up in intensity and depth. Both the 2019 and 2020 are my style of C-M. Not too broad shouldered, this 2020 Virondot carries wonderful acidity. 93+ points. Hold for a few years, or just pop ‘em now and pair with a white fish or scallop citrus dish. This wine would be a ceviche’s best friend. Sealed with natural cork.

  Very dry, almond and sherry impressions in the bouquet. Apricots and marzipan as well. On the palate oxidized, drying and fully mature with sherry and nutty flavors. This must be a faulty bottle. No score.

  This is clean, crisp and almost gulpable, it is already in a very good spot, but I do like young Chardonnay, and Morey never uses much new wood, so I know I'm always safe with them. Anyway, this wine is gorgeous, and will be worth following at least a few more years. Today it is a model of elegance and restraint, though it is also quite powerful, as well as very long on the palate.
  
  Aromas of green flowers, citrus oils, green apple, a little vanilla, buttery pastry, toasted walnut and petrichor. On the palate it is enveloping and textural, and almost full-bodied, but very lively and fresh, there's beautiful silkiness, bounce and vigor, it has incredible cut, the tart citrus element is strong, but there are so many other things going on keeping the powerful acidity in check. The finish is tense and very long, awash in stony, floral and crunchy fruit notes. It seems like something that will age very well, the freshness and pure crystalline core feel like good signs.... I dunno, I don't mess with aging a lot of Chardonnay myself, though some are obviously well worth saving...
  
  On day two this has opened up quite a bit, there's a juiciness on the mid-palate now, and notes of peach and pear join the apple and citrus. Still tense and lively, still powerful and enveloping, still mineral and floral, the spring flowers and clean mountain spring vibes here are splendid. This is uncommonly elegant in the context of powerful Chassagne 1er, and though I think you could save it many years, it is an absolute joy to drink now.
