  • I found this bottle outstanding. More cut and precision than the 1989 while having a totally silky palate. The fruit is fresh and there is some floral reds in there with the currant. A bit of flint and graphite to mix with some subtle earthy notes. What a treat.

  • - Short notes taken
    - Pnp, really friendly and charming nose with so much cabernet, red fruit, tomato, firestone, pepper, well integrated oak aromas and first but not to much of tertiary aromas (meat). Quiet intense and appealing!
    - On the palate everything is harmonious, aromas of green pepper comes straight to my mind. Acidity and freshness is in place, overall complexity is good but not outstanding. Just in a great spot to drink at the momemt but it could age further too.

  • Very earthy, a bit flat, but incredibly smooth.

  • Lovely nose with a core of dark fruit together with warm spices, mint, graphite and tobacco. Medium to full bodied and very savoury on the palate. Drinking well now but no rush. My favourite of a vertical (96, 01, 05, 06, 08,10,15) as it is in a great spot to drink now. Although the 05, 10 and 15 will likely be better wines once ready!

    WSET Notes:

    Deep garnet.

Pronounced on the nose with blackberry, blackcurrant, mint, graphite, clove, cedar, vanilla pod, mocha, leather, tobacco, earth and meat. Developing.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. Medium plus body, medium alcohol, high acidity, high tannins, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for ageing.

  • Dark and inky. Very young herbal and tobacco. Pyrazines. Quite spicy. Very dark fruit. Cocoa. Palate is wxcellent. Dry dusty tannins and nice fruit. Smooth and dark fruits. Tobacco. Good verve and bright. Fruit and acid on the finish. Can see some similarities to the 88 I had recently. Nose: 4.5/6, Palate: 5-5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 15.5-16.5/20.
