Margaret River Tasting (Bistro Cocotte, Haberfield): Rich, toasty and buttery but with a lemon core baking pineapple and tropical fruit. Medium plus acidity oak and butter are very present on the palate, someone says it's a bit sweet and sour and I'm inclined to agree. Hmm

Big, powerful, intense Chardonnay. Toasty but age has rounded off the oak. Ripe citrus flavours. Quite simple, this is all about power rather than complexity. Went well with cheese.

Pale golden yellow. Quite a ripe and expressive nose, tropical fruit with a hint of something more mineral. Ripe attack, medium richness, pineapple and melon fruit. Rounded, manages to be rich but also with elegance. Good line. No heat. My previous experience of this, an 04 at four years old struck me as a GC Chablis, this 06 and seven years, a 1er Cru Chassagne from a ripe year. Very enjoyable and held well over two evenings. ****

Stone fruits, some citrus and lemon curd. Nicely balanced with oak and acids, but a little short on the finish. Overall a nice drink, but I expected more. Storage on this bottle was an unknown.
